Novak said he takes the dog with him wherever he goes on his BMW motorcycle. Last year, Teddy Bear even rode to Key West, Fla. Novak crafted a child's car seat onto the bike, then added a windshield for added protection. So far, the motorcycle-loving K-9 has ridden 18,000 miles. An employee put out the fire, but Wal-Mart was evacuated due to the smoky interior. Shopper Charlene Berry of Montreal (not shown) said the lights went out in the grocery section, and customers were told to leave their carts and go outside. She was eager to finish her shopping, she said. Plattsburgh District 3 was assisted by the Morrisonville and South Plattsburgh volunteer fire departments.
