A Lake Champlain Transportation Company ferry crosses the lake between New York and Vermont. The 24-hour ferry service helps keep an open channel on the frigid waters, with each ferry sporting a combination of stainless steel propellers, reinforced hulls and heavy gears that enable them to navigate the winter ice on the lake. After some colder weather, the North Country should see warmer temperatures the next few days, reaching the mid-40s later in the week.
