Some people have already broken their New Year's resolutions to get in shape, but it's not too late to get on track. Member services coach Sarah Clookey at CVPH Wellness & Rehabilitation Center explains the services offered at the adult-oriented fitness center during their open house. The center has an eight-lane pool where the water and air temperature is kept at 86 degrees to keep muscles relaxed and to benefit physical-therapy patients. It also has full-court basketball, a cardiovascular room, strength training and an exercise studio. Each month, an open house is held where the public can try out the center for free. Dr. Ken Parker, owner of Thera-Pets, shares an affectionate moment with Mediterranean miniature donkey Geena while visiting Clinton County Nursing Home. Parker and the trainers make sure the donkeys have the best of care. Their medical records are updated every 90 days for state health inspectors. Parker thought he would have a lot of concern over housebreaking, he said, but because the donkeys originate from an arid climate, they conserve water and only urinate once every eight hours. As for other needs, they raise their tails several times in warning so they can be taken outside for a break. Their caretakers also carry a bucket and sanitizing supplies for emergencies.(P-R Photo/Rachel Moore)
Donna Duval struggles with her emotions as firefighters work to extinguish her 29 Sandalwood Way home Tuesday afternoon. Duval and her 17-year-old son, Brandon Collins, were not home when a grease fire started in the kitchen of their mobile home. Duval's cockatiel died in the fire, but her two dogs survived.(P-R Photo/Mike Betts)
