Jeremy Excott and Kim O'Neill from Vermont recently visited the new cave at Ausable Chasm. In 1996, 100 feet of water rushed through the chasm, destroying the stairs, railings and bridges in the upper section of the tourist site. For the first time since then, guests can now take a cave and waterfall hike. Walkers see Elephant's Head Rock, the chasm's most famous rock formation; the Devil's Oven Cave, carved by a whirlpool thousands of years ago; and the base of Rainbow Falls, an 80-foot waterfall. Guests must be at least 13 years old and in good physical shape.(P-R Photo/Gareth Plumadore)
